"Genetically modify an organism by introducing a new gene" Hands On Workshop!!
Chaque semaine le samedi
Our Hands On workshop Series Please see the images of event and results at specyal.com. As part as our Less Talk and Just Do It approach we will be creating our first genetically modified organism. We'll introduce a gene from a jellyfish in a bacteria commonly used in research. It's one of the most fundamental procedures in bio-engineering. As a part of this we'll perform several fundamental procedures in bioengineering: Preparing a Petri plate for bacterial culture. Hands on! Inoculating a bacterial culture and interpreting the results. Hands on! Transforming plasmids in DH5Alpha strain of bacteria. Hands on! The first sessions will be hands on and also present the experiment from several points of view and the protocol. These sessions are free of charge as they are not consuming significant reagents.
The final part will be 25$ to offset costs for reagents etc. This is Hands On and all participants will perform most or all the operations. We cannot accommodate a great number of participants so please RSVP in time to avoid disappointment.
