Her Story is a six episode scripted web series about transgender and queer women navigating love and relationships in Los Angeles. Created and acted by transgender women (a rarity in Hollywood), this series doesn’t shy away from difficult topics like rejection, bigotry, and intimate partner violence. However, its lovingly rendered, fully formed characters makes it a groundbreaking piece of transgender media. We will be screening the entire series. Her Story (2016) 55 minutes, unrated, [closed captioning will be turned on during the screening] There will be a discussion and refreshments following the film. Free and all are welcome. ----------------------------------------------- The Trans Joy Film Series will run through the end of 2019, and features films that center the joy and power of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people. These films counter Hollywood and mainstream media portrayals of transgender and non-binary people as tragic, deceptive, and marginalized. Project made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by ArtsWestchester.
