Rappelling in Ralph Stover State Park
dim. 11 août à 15:00
We tried to do waterfall rappelling last fall with Northeast Mountain Guiding, which was a scam. This is Valley to Summit, a different company, which seems legit. Rappelling is the controlled descent down a cliff or vertical surface using a rope tied around the body and fixed at a higher point. We will be learning how to do this in the high rocks section of Ralph Stover State Park, located in PA near the Delaware Water Gap, about an hour from central NJ. All gear will be provided. When you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email that goes into further detail about what to wear and bring. http://valleytosummit.com/trips/outdoor-rappelling-adventure/ This is the link to register. It costs $50 per person (assuming that at least 5 people come. The price increases for a group of less than 5, and the breakdown is listed on the website). Please click on Ralph Stover and choose the date of 8/11. It’s best to register ASAP because spots are limited (unfortunately I don’t know how many spots are left because this is a public event). We will receive a credit for inclement weather. I spoke to Faydra, and her email is [masked] if you have any questions. The park is very scenic (although no waterfalls, sorry), and the guides know rappelling down a cliff can be daunting at first, so they are there to help you and instruct you.
