Sunday, June 23rd, 2019: Can the Dead Yet Speak? Exploring the Roots of American Spiritualism in Algonquin Culture. In this groundbreaking workshop, based on new writings, Evan will discuss for the first time how Mediumship and Spiritualism in America developed out of Algonquin roots. We will get to know A.J. Davis, a Lenape man often called the Grandfather of American Spiritualism, and share our own stories, supernatural or otherwise, of encounters with the “other side,” or “spirit world,” the existence of which is commonly accepted among Algonquins, but with certain advisos, taboos, and rules of safe conduct. As one elder once pointed out, “Just because they’re dead doesn’t mean they’re smart!” 1 to 4 pm. Neolyth Center, 39 Glen Ridge Road, Montclair, New Jersey.
