10 Mile Fahnestock HIke
Aujourd'hui, 20 avril à 15:15
Not Suitable for beginners, slow hikers, runners, and dogs are not allowed. Let’s have some fun this Sat. by doing a new Fahnestock Hike. The hike will be about 8 -10 miles dependent on the amount of snow. We will start the hike by taking a car shuttle from cold Springs to the Trail head at Hubbard Lodge. If all goes well we will take the School Mountain Road to the East Mountain Loop. We will then take the Fahnestock Trail, and then School Mountain Road to the Cars.
The hike will be a hilly demanding hike with a reasonable number of stops. It will be at a brisk pace, and we will stop as needed. It could be a demanding hike for some. We will stop a reasonable number of times. If you are looking for a high intensity workout or a slow stroll this is the wrong hike. Leader determines the pace, distance and mileage. If you like to run don’t come. Hiking boots required. Also bring at least 3 quarts of water and your lunch. This is an all-day hike that will start at 9:05 AM and end 6-7 hours later. Rain, snow, or Ice storms cancels. Substantial snow or Ice on the ground modifies hike., and could chance the trail head, but not the meeting place. If there is deep snow, we will go snowshoeing. Traction devices required if there is ice and snow. We will meet in Cold Springs, and drive to the parking lot on 9D. Trans. 5D, but take the early train that leaves at 7:32, and arrives at 9:08. Those using Public Transportation take the 7:32 Metro North Trail to Cold Spring. If you are driving take 9 D to Main Street and park at the foot of Main Street near the Depot Restaurant.
