10,000 Step Sunday
dim. 28 avril à 19:00
Fitbit says that our goal is to walk at least 10,000 steps a day, so, I invite you to walk with me. We can accomplish 10,000 steps in about 2 hours of walking. There is no set route- we just go wherever we feel inspired to go to! The only rule is that we finish at our starting point. Often we discover some pretty awesome and memorable things, making this a great way to get to know our wonderful city a little better! For this walk, we will meet at the giant spider at the National Gallary of Canada . An after walk social is an option depending on interest. GOOD WEATHER We will walk through light to medium rain, snow, and other medium conditions. Here is what I advise you bring to maximize comfort: • Good walkin' shoes made for walkin' cause that's just what they'll do • Anti-rain gear like raincoats. • Layers in case the weather is all the things • A bag to put things in like layers you are no longer wearing • Tissues, gloves, water, little bit 'o money in case you want a coffee BAD WEATHER I will cancel the meetup before noon if the weather forecast predicts weather I don't fancy. If I have not cancelled the meetup and it's ultra crap outside, I will have a game we can play indoors for a little bit. Expect that sometimes we might just call it early. If it rains halfway through the walk, we can turn around or finish half the walk and find a place to stay dry and play. STILL CAN'T DECIDE IF YOU SHOULD GO OR NOT? Come anyway, even if the weather sucks. It's either not as bad you think, or it is as bad as you think, but it doesn't matter, because you are out of the house now and playing games instead of whatever else you were going to do. FINDING EACH OTHER For first timer's, there's always this awkward "is it that group?" moment. If you don't want to deal with it, text me at the number provided to verify that it is indeed us. We will not wait very long at the meeting spot. We will be leaving at 1:15 sharpish. If you are late, it's OK! Because in this walking meetup, you can always just walk to us as we are just walking in circles. LOCATIONS Locations will change every walk. If you would like to suggest an area to check out, post it here! We are Exploras. Let us know if there is a place to stop in the area for warmth or food, if the area is "difficult" or "moderate" in terms of slopeyness and energy. The idea behind the changing locations is to focus on a different neighbourhood of Ottawa each walk. All the meeting spots will be on a bus route. THINGS THAT DON'T HAVE A CATEGORY • I suggest taking pictures of unusual or funny or interesting things we see in our journeys, or things we like, like birds or strangers. • This is a meetup we used to do quite often (in fact, it was the first meetup for many of us) and it is a favourite of mine. I'll run these occasionally, based on interest. If you would like to lead a walk sometime, just let me know!
