Tickets here!! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dharmahuasca-a-talk-on-ayahuasca-and-buddhism-tickets-60279521672 Join us on May 8th for "Dharmahuasca: Buddhist Dharma, Ayahuasca and Sacred Medicines", hosted at the beautiful Park Church Co-op in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Rob Heffernan will speak about the integration of ayahuasca and other sacred medicines with the practice of Buddhist Dharma. He will give a brief outline of Buddhist history and the fundamental practices and principals of Buddhist Dharma. This will lead into a description of how he personally integrates dharma practices during the ceremonial use of ayahuasca. The discussion will then broaden into some of the challenges of engaging in such integration and criticisms other dharma practitioners and teachers might have of it. We will also look at how such a practice might relate to psychotherapy and other spiritual traditions. After the talk an hour long Q&A and discussion period will ensue. While the focus will be on ayahuasca, other sacred medicines will be included in the talk and discussion period. Rob Heffernan has been practicing Buddhist Dharma for decades in various Theravda, Zen and Tibetan traditions. He has been deeply involved in Insight/Vipassana practice for many years. For the last ten years he has been involved in a Thai Forest lineage as well as the growing non-sectarian inquiry into early Buddhism (as we know it from the Pali Cannon, Chinese Agamas and various historical studies) and the social contexts in which the Dharma arose and evolved. He has been participating in the vegetalisimo and Santo Daime ayahuasca traditions for almost 20 years as well as being familiar with other sacred medicines. He is a independent researcher and activist and a key member of Chacruna’s Council for the Protection of Sacred Plants https://chacruna.net/council-for-the-protection-of-sacred-plants/ He is also a certified Shamanic Breathwork facilitator and Certified Sound and Music Practitioner. He uses these modalities as integration tools for both dharma and sacred medicine practice. He works in the AVIT industry. Tickets are $15 early bird, $18 for general admission, and $20 at the door.
