Yang Form 1 (杨一)

In this course students learn the first chapter of Taiji Yang form, also known as Cheng Man-ching’s 37 movement (or Yang style short form). Class length 55 minutes. Students will be methodically led through portions of the form on a weekly basis, with attention given to principles (rooting, posture, movement) and applications. The entire course sequentially graduates through three chapters, or stages of the form, and after completing Yang Form 1 with proficiency, students may progress to Yang Form 2 and then 3. Certificates of completion will be issued to students who have completed all sections of the entire course, after reviews and successful demonstrations. From then on students may participate in Yang Form 4 (ongoing intermediate-advanced). Students already having Taiji form experience and wishing to join may contact Inoshi to assess equivalency and placement. There are many benefits from learning Taiji form. One advantage of Man-ching's form is that it is relatively short and can be done in less than 10 minutes. Once embodied (learned well and practiced regularly) it can assist you in maintaining optimum health. For more on health aspects of Taiji see here: NIH ( http://j.mp/1e5HxJS ). Dress comfortably and bring/wear a pair of clean shoes: tennis shoes, cotton or leather soled shoes (Taiji slippers fine), changing area available. Practice in socks or bare feet fine too.
