Kakiat and Harriman day hike
sam. 23 mars à 13:00
Hurrah! Spring is here! At least based on the astronomy calendar. Let's go for a nice hike in great nature! The plan is to leave NYC around 9:00 am on Saturday, March 23, and meet around 10:00 am at Dunkin' Donuts in Mahwah, NJ, about 30 miles north of the City. From there we'll drive a few miles (past Suffern) to the trail head. We can carpool from the City or you can take a 9:14 am train from NYC to Suffern, NY, see https://goo.gl/maps/p1yHmea4ZDt and we'll pick you up there. The hike will be challenging: over 10 miles of ups and downs, with some views of Manhattan. While the hike is not easy, if you're physically fit and prepared for the hike and the weather, you will make it even if this is your first hike. You have to be prepared for the hike - it may be cold, rainy, windy. You should have boots that don't get easily wet. Bring layers of clothes so that you can add and remove a layer as necessary. The clothes should be synthetic (cotton does not dry well when it gets wet when you sweat). Don't forget to bring a wind/rain-proof jacket, maybe gloves and a hat. You should also have at least a 1.5 liter of water and a lunch snack. By Thursday evening I'll send out the carpool spreadsheet to sign up for carpool spots. Also, please bring some cash with you to give to your driver to pay the gas and tolls. We may also end up going for dinner after the hike. If you have a question, post it below or e-mail me. I'll send a spreadsheet to organize the carpool on Thursday evening. Milos
