Williams Pipeline Public Hearing (DEC) - Rockaway
mer. 6 mars à 23:00
The DEC has just announced a public hearing in Rockaway - a community that would be heavily impacted by the proposed pipeline. You can show up and help stop this pipeline from threatening our coastline. It's going to be down to New York State to block this pipeline by denying the requisite permits. The good news is that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has decided to hold public hearings on the pipeline. The DEC did not have to do this and the fact that it did means that we have its attention. It's critical that we show up in force and prove to them why this pipeline is unnecessary, dangerous and won't be happening on our watch. The hearing is at 5pm - the great thing about hearings is that you can come when you can (even if you can't get there at the start time). We will be providing more information on transport, logistics and preparation shortly so please keep an eye on here as well as on our social media, website and email blasts (sign up on website) for details as they are released. There will be opportunities for us to testify but it's also equally as important that we have a large, visible presence there so also come if you don't want to testify but want to support the movement. Spread the word far and wide! Stay tuned for sample written comments and talking points for the hearings and also upcoming pipeline events. For more information on this campaign, visit the Surfrider NYC website. Please contact campaign lead, Noelle Picone at [masked] for further information of questions. *** The DEC 30-day public comment period for written comments has also officially started and ends on March 1, 2019. We need to flood the DEC with opposition. Written comments may be submitted electronically at [masked] or by mail at: Karen Gaidasz
