NYC FERMENTS February meetup!
mar. 5 mars à 01:00
Join NYC FERMENTS for our March meetup! This month we are featuring "PICKLES AS PART..." We've been telling you all along the amazing benefits of including fermented foods in your daily diet. But can you really wake up every morning and munch down a big old scoop of kimchi before your morning coffee? Think about using fermented food as an ingredient! Those pickles you made over the summer - chop them up and add them to some strained yogurt (lebneh) for a delicious dip... That kimchi you have festering in the back of the fridge (or maybe in the jar you scored at the last meetup) - mix it into some sourdough starter and an egg and put in your waffle maker for an amazing creation... The miso that you made in one of Cheryl's workshops (or bought too much of at the market) - marinate some fish in it and see the amazing flavor that comes out... The extra brine that you took home in a plastic baggy after the last meetup - soak a hardboiled egg in it and celebrate a whole new kind of Easter treat... Check out the Cultures for Health site with an easy list of "20 ways to include fermented foods in every meal":
https://www.culturesforhealth.com/learn/general/20-ways-include-fermented-foods-every-meal/ From Series Eats, a piece titled, "Seriously Asian: The Magic of Miso Marination Recipe" explains different types of miso and uses in everyday cooking that will take you beyond mixing it with water to create soup:
https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2009/08/miso-marination-asian-marinades-beef-fish.html Try something new... Go down a different path... Start with a new ingredient and take it places it and you never knew it could go! Join us at any level with your curiosity or your expertise - you will be amazed at how you fit into and enjoy the group. Bring a friend or your pet scoby, jun or starter (we won't judge...); bring an empty jar; get nerdy with us - and get ready to share in our enthusiasm (and yummy bites, tonics, pastes, and sauces)!
