Want to live a more skillful, easeful life? The suttas provide an instruction on how to attain a more satisfying, compassionate way of life. But what is a 'sutta?' 'Suttas,' are transcriptions for the actual teachings that the Buddha gave over 2,500 years ago in India. We can learn a great deal from these teachings, even in our modern era. Join us as we discuss what each teaching has to offer us as 21st century New Yorkers. Some meditation experience and knowledge of Buddhism is helpful. Still, whether you are Buddhist, or just curious about Buddhism, these learning and discussion sessions will offer much by way of wisdom. Time: 6:30-8:30pm
When: 1st and 3rd Monday of each month
Where: Private home in West Village--RSVP for location! What to expect:
We will begin the session with a 30 minute meditation followed by brief introductions. We will set up the historical backdrop in which the sutta takes place and explain important themes and context.
