Children's Adventure - Self Guided, Appalachian Trail Georgia to Maine
mar. 2 avril à 01:00
Wind them up, let them go... An adventure of a lifetime. A children's thru hike of the Appalachian Trail will give our future hikers a bucket list lifetime experience that many adults long to have. The Appalachian Trail is very well marked along the route, so getting lost should not be a issue. No lower age limit for children but make sure they are old enough walk without falling too much. We will meet at the forest road near the Summit of Springer Mountain in Georgia with our kids. We will hike with them to the summit of Springer Mountain, distance about a mile. During this time we will point out everything they need to know about thru hiking, following the trail, resupply, Leave No Trace, and what to do in case they see a bear. We will take a group picture at the summit and hike back with them the 1 mile to the cars in the lot. After that we will give them their packs, and wish them well for their 2000 mile journey north. In apx 6 months we will be meeting them at the summit of Katahdin in Maine to pick them up and bring them home after their adventure. Another group picture so we have a before and after. During such time you should register your child as homeschooling and getting life experience. As such please remember to include all the needed common core textbooks that they will need to do on the way. Happy April's Fools day. :)
