Noon O' Clock Hiking Series - Hook Mountain South
lun. 21 janvier à 18:00
Alright, it's been a while since I've been to Hook Mountain...anyone else lucky enough to have MLK day off? I haven't since I was in school, and I want to make the best of it. Right now, there's about a 40% chance of snow in the morning, but it doesn't look like it will be terribly cold. This is one of my favorites, with great views of the Hudson and a walk along Nyack Beach. It's about 6 miles, with moderate difficultly. Bring a couple of liters of water and good pair of hiking boots (and crampons or microspikes if you have them). Here is a pretty thorough description of the hike and directions to where we're meeting: This is the fire house near the parking lot where we're meeting, at the end of Landing Road. Driving Directions Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway north to Exit 4, and turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto US 9W. Continue north on US 9W for about 10 miles (2.8 miles beyond the intersection with NY 59 in Nyack). At the bottom of a hill, turn right and enter Rockland Lake State Park. Continue ahead on the main park road, which curves to the right, and proceed for 1.4 miles to a three-way intersection. Here, the main road bears left, but you should continue ahead onto Landing Road (marked by a “No Outlet” sign). After passing a fire station to the right, park in the spaces provided on the right side of the road, just before a barricade across the road. Description It's not letting me post a description of the hike, but here's the link to it if you want to check out the details: https://www.nynjtc.org/hike/long-pathhook-mountain-bike-path-loop-summit-hook-mountain Oh, and like most of my hikes, we will be getting food somewhere afterwards. Hope to see you there!
