New Years celebration at Zealand Hut!!!
lun. 31 décembre à 22:00
Last year we celebrated at Lonesome Lake but we missed Zealand Hut a lot!! Therefore this year I got Zealand Hut back! I got 29 spots which is most of the hut. Unfortunately someone got the other 9 spots but they will have to endure our screaming and drinking until 1am. Otherwise they should have booked the whole hut. The best thing about Zealand is the fact that the bunks are attached to the hut so no need to walk outside to get to the bunks! The trail to Zealand Hut is 7 miles long with an elevation gain of 500 feet. It's a really easy trail. The first four miles are on a road that is closed for the winter. There is no cell service, TV or radio. The Hut is self-service in the winter. That means you bring your own food and of course booze. The hut will be $37 per person for one night. I am collecting payments now. There are only 29 spots.
You can pay me using the link on meetup or directly via Paypal and Zelle to [masked] or via Venmo using @xico-mancheno If you are on the YES RSVP list then you must send me the money as soon as you can. Or use this PayPal link: paypal.me/nybackpackers Some of us are going to Burlington a few days before the New Year. I am posting a separate meetup for that from December 28 to December 31st. Dinner logistics? Let's try to cook in groups of 5. Big meals are a disaster at Zealand. How do we get there? We will carpool together from NY. Most people will probably go up on Friday December 28 or Saturday December 29 to make it a very long weekend. We will drive back to NY on Tuesday, January 1st. Here is the rides spreadsheet for the trip so that can find a ride: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1naRfSY_ANEkPLQkUGd--NUlemYwqfdOTyj5OQSZ66-0/edit?usp=sharing What is there in the hut? There is a full kitchen with pans, plates, utensils and a gas powered stove. For sleeping, there are bunks with mattresses so you don't need to bring a sleeping pad. What do you need? Sleeping bag Warm winter clothing Change of clothes for the party at night. Bring your favorite party clothes or a onesie. Snowshoes (You can rent them at EMS in the city or up in NH, if you don't have snowshoes you will post-hole which is only fun the first mile) You can also ski in if there is enough snow. XC skis and AT skis are fine. Food Booze
