Saturdays at Allaire
Chaque semaine le samedi
Intermediate level ride of at about 2 hrs (including breaks). Our route will return to the parking area within the first 60 mins. Almost exclusively on singletrack trails. Surfaces are generally packed sand, with pea sized gravel deposited at just a few dozen corners of the trail system. Some roots in places, but overall not a particularly rooty area. And almost all log-overs have bypasses. Overall, the trail drainage here is excellent. Plenty of trails that handle wonderfully only a couple hrs after heavy rainfall. In fact, handling generally improves immediately after rainfall, as that resets the sand in the outer radii of sharp corners ( that was whipped up by traffic ). Another plus -- almost none of the trails here become badly loaded with leaf litter. All of the above makes for a fast-moving, fun-cornering ride. If you've never been here before, you'll be astonished by the number and variety of both natural and built-up surprises (except rock). Allaire is popular for MTB, so expect to see several other groups besides us. Adults only. OK for athletic beginners. Pace for good fitness and better. Mountain bike and helmet required. Remember water, snacks, tick repellent, spare tube. Please, no broadcasting of music, nor riding with pets. Porta-johns in the parking area. Please check this web page for updates before leaving home. If you know you're running late, then post at this web page before the meetup time, as we have 4G internet at the parking lot, to check for latecomers.
