Hey! This is the third LessWrong-ish meetup in Tokyo this year. If you're not familiar with LessWrong community, you may look it up: https://wiki.lesswrong.com/wiki/FAQ#What_is_Less_Wrong.3F - what we want to do is to bring international rationalist community to Japan, and promote such way of thinking here. The meeting will be held in a discussion club format. One of us presents a quick report on a topic, afterwards we have a chat about it. Topics are generally centered about:

  • Human rationality (and improving our thinking in general)

  • Cognitive science

  • AI alignment, far future, transhumanism and relevant modern philosophy (basically, intelligence in all its forms) This meetup's agenda:

  • Presentation [ AI approaches and bayesianism ]

  • Discussion (in small groups)

  • Decide what to do next year Who should come:

  • Those interested in topics above.

  • Those who want to become smarter than they already are. And those who feel that just being smart isn't enough, and would want to apply that in practice more.

  • Personally you if you've read books by such authors as Kahneman, Kurzweil, Bostrom etc. Or maybe you've read "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" by Yudkowsky and liked it ( http://www.hpmor.com/ ). Or if you have no idea who all those guys are, but are still interested. The discussion will be held in English, so having advanced English knowledge is optimal.

However, use of Japanese isn't forbidden. We'll do our best to make sure that information is transmitted, and everyone understands each other. The entry fee for this meetup is 500 JPY. Place
