As digital product creators, we find ourselves faced with a profound responsibility to the millions of people intentionally and inadvertently affected by our work. This multi-disciplinary panel will focus on the grey areas of modern product development, and discuss noteworthy examples of how even the simplest design decisions can lead to great ethical successes — or epic fails. They will empower you to positively impact humanity through products designed for a world that doesn't suck. Who this talk is for: This talk is for anyone interested in design — one of the most powerful forces in our lives. It affects our morning commute, how we experience websites and apps, and how we communicate with each other. Gaining a better understanding of this universal force will help you see the world and your projects through a fascinating new lens. While most attendees will be designers, many developers, product owners, researchers, and business folk also benefit from the ideas and best practices. 8:15-9:00 PM — Post-Event Networking Moderator: ELAYNE SAFIR is a user experience design lead, researcher and strategist at XO Group. As the founder of the Choice Architects panel series, she engages the tech community in conversations about a more mindful and future-conscious approach to product design. She is passionate about design ethics, offline-first design, and humanitarian opportunities in digital spaces. Speakers: As Head of Design, LAUREN SINREICH is building an enterprise design practice at Bank of America. Previously, she led a research and strategy business working with organizations including the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Civic Innovation, American Express, and the Kauffman Foundation. She leverages her foundations in qualitative research to apply social science and design thinking methodologies to understand people and the contexts in which they interact. YULIA BELOZERSKY is a writer, storyteller and content creator who has lead brand voice and omni-channel creative strategy development for iconic luxury clients including Michael Kors and Victoria’s Secret. Her brand building approach is rooted in isolating simple truths that inspire desire, facilitate engagement and make for a really good story. QUINN RYAN is a senior product designer, illustrator, and user advocate whose work spans across industries and mediums. As a product designer at Mic, she draws from over 5 years of experience in media, e-commerce, and mobile tools to create delightful, responsible experiences that solve real user problems. YUKI CHOW is a UX strategy manager, design lead and behavior analyst at XO Group. She has consulted early-stage startups and helped Fortune 100 companies such as CVS Health, Roche and Hilton Hotels.
