In 1913, William & Mai Coe did just that — fortunately, it's still all preserved over a century later. Join New York Adventure Club ( https://www.nyadventureclub.com/ ) for an exploration of the Planting Fields Estate ( https://plantingfields.org/ ), a sprawling "Gold Coast" estate in Oyster Bay built in 1913 for insurance magnate William Robertson Coe, and his wife, Standard Oil heiress Mai Rogers Coe. Our unique exploration through the historic mansion on the 409-acre Oyster Bay estate will include: • The history and story of the Coe Family, from their accumulation of vast sums of wealth to the ambitious transformation of their grounds into a botanical marvel
• A private tour through Coe Hall, a 65-room Tudor Revival mansion featuring over 500 artifacts, 13th – 19th century stained glass windows, and commissioned murals by American artists Robert H. Chanler and Everett Shinn
• An exclusive trip to the basement of Coe Hall to see the former wine vault, coal room, and refrigeration rooms Afterward, we'll head over to the greenhouse on the Planting Fields grounds (designed by Guy Lowell, A. Robeson Sargent, and the Olmsted Brothers), to see local and exotic plant species. Click here to see pictures from one of our last Planting Fields Estate experiences!
