Staten Island’s Snug Harbor Visit + Spanish Lunch!
dim. 25 novembre à 17:30
Richard ZainEldeen, a member and Staten Island resident, has come up with an exciting afternoon outing for us in Staten Island on Sunday, November 25th. We will take the the 11:30 AM ferry to Staten Island from the ferry terminal in lower Manhattan, meet Richard in the terminal in Staten Island, and walk a few blocks to Beso, a Spanish restaurant and have lunch. After lunch, we will take a short bus ride to Snug Harbor which we can explore for an hour or so. Snug Harbor is a collection of 26 Greek Revival, Beaux Arts, Italianate and Victorian style architecturally significant buildings set in an 83-acre park on the north shore of Staten Island. The site is considered Staten Island's crown jewel and an incomparable remnant of New York's 19th-century seafaring past. The Staten Island museum is also there. Following our visit to Snug Harbor, we will take the bus back to the ferry terminal to catch the 4:30 PM or 5 PM boat back to Manhattan. Instructions for exiting ferry in Staten Island: As you come off the ferry you will walk with the crowd down a corridor to the main terminal corridor where Richard will be waiting for us in front of the Au Bon Pain. IMPORTANT!!! If you decide to come it is crucial that you not miss the 11:30 ferry as we won’t be able to wait for the next one to arrive 1/2 hour later. Richard suggests you wear comfortable walking shoes and a cap with visor.
