*John is very social, but social media averse. Meet him in person!hosted Bring your voices, instruments, your songs, poems, stories, jokes, etc., to share in a round robin. This monthly gathering (except for a summer break) is a welcoming and casual gathering for people who like to share the music with others. There are occasional special guest performers. This month, we haves a rare opportunity to hear Paul Baker Hernandez. Paul he lives in Nicaragua, and is only visiting New York for a short time in October. Originally from Scotland, he became interested in political music of Latin America through the singing of the Chilean songwriter Victor Jara. Paul sings in both English and Spanish. He has written many songs including "I Thought I Heard Sweet Victor Singing in the Night," composed in the garden of the Jara family in Chile. Paul has appeared with Inti Illimani, Rita Moreno, Martin Sheen, Jackson Browne, Dar Williams, Luis Enrique and Carlos Mejia Godoy. Contributions welcome to help cover costs. Everyone is welcome. The Upper West Side Song Swap is organized by the Folk Music Society of NY and Peoples' Music Network.
