Midweek Discovery Hike: Gonzaga ruins, Schunemunk mountain traverse
jeu. 18 octobre à 15:45
As with all "Discovery hikes", I have not done all or some of this before, so come with a sense of adventure, read the write up included below and print/bring map. We will be doing a car shuttle with this hike so if you arrive late you will miss us. Pace: Moderate
Terrain: Moderate/Moderate-Strenuous (should be more downs than ups, but there will be both and some rocky terrain)
Distance: ~ 8-9 miles (estimated) Hike description: We will shuttle to our starting spot at Gonzaga Park, there we will try and find the ruins including an old chapel. We will continue by hiking up Schunemunk mountain on the Jessup trail, stopping at the views along the way. We will enjoy the views from the unique formations of the Megaliths, and have our lunch break. For those that wish to explore within the belly of the rocks, bring a flashlight! After continuing along the ridge for a while, we will descend to our cars on Taylor road.
