Catch the last vestiges of Autumn during our photowalk at Poughkeepsie
sam. 10 novembre à 14:15
Saturday, November 10th
Meet at the Clock in Grand Central Station
8:15 am for 8:45 train departure on Metro North Train Ticket Prices
Round Trip Off-Peak $37
Round Trip Senior/Disabled/Medicare $24.50 After a pleasant train ride along the banks of the Hudson River, we will arrive at Poughkeepsie at approximately 10:45 am. We will walk a short distance to arrive at the entrance of the "Walkway Across The Hudson" and cross the beautiful Hudson River high above the water on this exciting old railroad Trestle Bridge now a very popular park. As we cross we can admire the beauty of the fall colors on the hills around on both sides of the river and the grand scenic views over the river, town, and the surrounding areas. Once on the far side, we'll walk on a rustic riverside road along the shore of the Hudson to the "Franklin D. Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge." Once there, we'll find the beginning of a secret woodland trail under the bridge and follow it up past lovely trails and the ruins of an old house, to a viewpoint high above the bridge and the Hudson River. Finally, we wind back down through the woods to the road bridge and cross back over to the town. While on the bridge, we might stop briefly to discover "Bridge Music" which is music played and recorded by hitting the bridge and it's cables and heard through loudspeakers after pressing buttons on the columns of the bridge. Finally, after snacks and beverages in town at a popular Irish Bar & Restaurant, it's time to return to the station for the return trip to New York City. We will probably leave Poughkeepsie around 5:00-6:00 pm
This walk is approximately five miles in total. I hope to see many of you there.
