A walk in the woods part 2 - Appalachian Trail 6.5 miles, Children's Adventure
sam. 20 octobre à 16:30
This is a Children's Adventure hike, as such is geared towards the needs and enjoyment of children. We will be taking on a easier, shorter section on the Appalachian Trail, over a scenic open hilltop, views overlooking our destination, and ending at Fahnstock State Park's Lake Canopus for a nice gentle walk in the woods. A great opportunity to get kids started in hiking, but make sure they can handle apx 7 miles and a total accent of 1000 vertical feet. It's not much distance in terms of hiking our Hudson Valley, but can be significant if your kid (or you) have never hiked. We are hopeful to catch some early fall colors as we traverse this wonderful and tranquil section of the AT. As we make our way from Miller Hill Road to Fahnstock. This will be a continuation of a walk in the woods, children's AT traverse of the state. All will meet at Fanhstock State Park, Pelton Pond to help set up the shuttle to the beginning. Use the following for directions. https://goo.gl/maps/jCW5FzMqGxT2 It is on Rt 301 and very easy to get to from the Taconic Parkway, just get off the parkway at the exit for Rt 301, heading east towards Cold Spring, axp 0.7 miles on left. We are hoping this to be a car shuttle through hike, but due to the needs of kids it may be a out and back if we can not reasonable set up a shuttle. Either way milage and vertical will be about the same. Children's Adventure hikes and events are geared to the way that children need to hike, explore and have fun. Adults not bringing a child must realize that this event is geared towards the needs, pace and enjoyment of children. Please RSVP kids using the RSVP guest function to your RSVP. No dogs please
