The Internet of Things (IoT) is the term we use for the growing global network of tools and devices that communicate data via the internet. The reach of the internet has now grown to include the vehicles we drive, our television watching habits, and even mundane tasks like how and when coffee is brewed in our home kitchens. As more and more of these devices are engineered to be 'smart', IoT data volumes are growing exponentially. A recent Gartner report estimates that around 6.5 billion devices utilised the IoT in 2016 but that number is expecting to grow to more than 20 billion by 2020. Legacy database technology is not equipped to deal with these rising data volumes and must be updated to help exploit this new-found information. Sean Lang, Business Development Lead at Kx, will speak about his thoughts on the IoT and the various use cases Kx have worked on with NASA, Red Bull, Airbus and other Fortune 500 manufacturing firms. Kx technology was founded in Palo Alto in 1996 to address one of the most basic problems in high-performance computing: the inability of traditional relational database technology to keep up with the explosive escalation of data volumes. Nowadays, we are trading on the London Stock Exchange, winners of the UK Tech Company of the year, and hiring 1000 data scientists over the next 3 years! Check out our website for more info ( https://kx.com/ ) and see you all very soon! Feel free to RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.fr/e/billets-les-objets-connectes-de-nombreux-cas-dusages-sean-lang-business-developer-kx-51081328629 We look forward to meeting all of you!
