Guided Fall Woods Walk - Join us!
sam. 20 octobre à 15:00
I believe that in today’s world most of us are generally rushing through life. Our minds, especially, are flitting from the laptop screen to our smartphone screens to widescreen TVs – ingesting WAY too much information, so much so that our brains are overflowing and burning out and/or numbing out – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TEXTING, NPR, email inboxes filled with newsletters, nagging unanswered notes, and annoying marketing scams. And all of the above is just a list of distractions, then, of course, we have to make a living, be present in our relationships (which are strained from the above-mentioned distractions) - and, if you have children, do all that is involved in raising them. Take a moment now, now, where you are – to take a few slow and deliberate deep breaths. As you breathe deeply, put your attention on following your breath as it goes in and then as it goes out - you have already started to calm your mind and body, you have given yourself a moment of self-care and compassion. In this high-speed 21st Century, to be healthy and thriving in mind, body and soul, each of us should engage in a practice or practices for slowing down, unplugging, de-stressing and connecting into our own rhythms, and, if possible, the rhythms of nature. Tai-chi, yoga, qi gong, meditation are all examples. And, at Woods Walks, we are offering another way – the Woods Walks’ Way of practicing mindfulness, connecting with nature in new ways (and/or ancient ways ;) ) with the additional benefits and fun of using your imagination and opening again to your child-like sense of wonder, rediscovering parts of yourself you have left behind. We do this purposefully in a group so that we can share our experiences and form a community of fellow explorers. We invite you to join us on October 20th. Your financial contribution is $25.00. One dollar from each walker will be donated to the South Mountain Reservation Conservancy. You may pay in cash on the day or email me at [masked] for Venmo, PayPal or Google Pay details. I do not want folks to not join a walk for financial concerns. Please reach out if there are circumstances which
prevent a financial contribution. Suggestions of items to bring: 1. water bottle 2. sunscreen 3. bug spray (to repel ticks) - we will also have non-deet and deet spray available for your use 4. a journal 5. appropriate clothes and footwear for the weather. If it has been raining, shoes that can get muddy! 6. a sense of wonder :) Any questions or concerns, please email [masked] For more information about Woods Walks and my experience and training, see FB page: https://www.facebook.com/GetIntoTheForest/
