In a public health climate where 68% of adults in the U.S. are overweight or obese and millions have diabetes, the need for a lifestyle change is greater than it has ever been. Deveoped by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and taught all over the world, the Food for Life: Kickstart Your Health 5-week program is about reconnecting with our food choices to lose weight, slow, stop and even reverse many health concerns. For some people, it's the first time the idea of not restricting amounts of food, but rather choosing the right food, has been the guiding principle for losing weight and staying healthy. Lower cholesterol, better disease control, lower blood pressure, as well as improvements in energy and mood are some of the many benefits people experience on this diet. The Food for Life: Kickstart Your Health classes offer a chance to discover which foods are optimal for weight management, learn about various health topics including blood pressure and digestion, and get empowered with the practical cooking skills needed to help you on your journey to better health. In the classes, attendees do all of this while enjoying a cooking demonstration and tasting delicious, healthful dishes in a supportive setting. Featured Class Topics for the 5-class series include: • Power of Your Plate • Let's Go! • Getting in Gear • Breaking the Food Seduction • Keys for Natural Appetite Control Each class is 2 hours and includes a DVD lecture by Dr. Neal Barnard, nutrition discussion and tips, live cooking demo of THREE new recipes each class, and lots of sampling of delicious plant-based foods. This is the first time classes are being offered weekday mornings. Thursdays 10am-12pm - October 11, 18, 25, and November 1 and 8, 2018. Space is limited, so register early! Cost: $149.85.
