dim. 23 septembre à 15:45
This is one is a popular area spot. It's been a year since our last visit so the time is right. This will be an intermediate hike up the face (orange trail) with some easy scrambles then around on the bluebird trail up to the top for some glorious views of the Hudson Valley! - We will then do the loop down to Rte 218 and then back up to enjoy some great views of Breakneck, Tauras, and Cold Spring. For those who just want the traditional views and highlights without nearly the same effort, you can opt for a shorter 4 mile version. Full hike Mileage - 9 miles
Elevation gain for 9 mile hike - 2000+ ft Phone -[masked] - can call or text. We will be meeting at the large parking area on the right side of 9W heading north just under 9 miles north of the Bear Mountain circle; it is right at the base of the main mountain but don't drive past it, because it is a long haul to make a u-turn and come back around. Suggested Donation - $2.00 PLEASE DONT RELY ON GPS IT SOMETIMES DOESNT GET YOU TO EXACTLY WHERE YOU NEED TO BE: DIRECTIONS: Take Route 9W North from Bear Mountain circle for about 8.5 miles until a large (unpaved) parking area on the right. This parking area comes while the road is curving towards the left and the road is peaking a hill. It is the second obvious parking area (GPS: N[masked], W[masked]). There are two historical markers in the parking area, one of which is titled "Freedom Road".
