Duke Estate & Fall Foliage Walk: Old Bldgs, Sculptures, Lakes, Gardens, Ruins
sam. 13 octobre à 18:45
This Dukes Estate walk is on a scenic route filled with interesting places. I will occasionally comment on some things (architecture/history), but you will have plenty of time to socialize with others. Cost: The cost of this event is $4 per person, which is paid at the start of the walk. (Please read the "About Us Section" for more information regarding the $4 per person fee for each event.) Walk is 6 1/2 miles, moderate paced, with easy/wide paved, gravel or dirt trails. After lunch, this route will be somewhat different from the previous Duke Estate walk. Bring lunch (lunch about 2:30 PM), water, walking shoes, EXTRA LAYERS OF CLOTHING, sun protection. Also insect spray (might not need it but have it with you just in case.) According to reports, fall foliage starts in Central NJ in mid-October. THERE IS NO NEED TO POST WHY YOU CAN'T MAKE THE EVENT. If you are registered for this walk & can't attend, please change your RSVP online from "YES" to "NO". (PLEASE READ THE "ABOUT US SECTION" FOR THE GUIDELINES REGARDING THE NO SHOW POLICY.) No young children or pets allowed on walk w/o prior approval of organizer. No smoking, please. If you have a personal matter/questions, please contact John, Event Host, directly through his private Meetup account. Description: We'll walk in Duke Estate, which has 2,700 acres, including 1,000 acres open to public. Admission is FREE. The Duke Estate has over 40 historic buildings, many sculptures, lakes, gardens, ruins, & trees. Feature photo above shows aerial view of 67,000 sq ft Duke mansion, which was demolished in 2016. However, children/disabled/seniors citizens [62 years & up] who show identification may purchase ticket on the train w/o paying $5 penalty. Allow extra time to buy tickets at NEWARK Penn Sta.
