Bushwick Artist Studio Walk
sam. 29 septembre à 20:00
This Bushwick Artists Studio Tour is on a scenic route filled with interesting places. I will occasionally comment on the artists and the art scene, but you will have plenty of time to socialize with others. Cost: The cost of this event is $4 per person, which is paid at the start of the walk. This is for the organizer's Meetup preparation costs and fees. (Please read the "About Us Section" for more information regarding the $4 per person fee for each event.) (Because there are many open artists studios spread out over a fairly wide geographical area, this walk will focus on the artists and art scene, not the architecture or history of the neighborhood. Talking about the architecture or history on this day would waste valuable time in getting to and from these open art studios. Many of these art studios are open from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM. During the year, I also led Bushwick tours about the architecture and history of the neighborhood.) I first surprisingly discovered the Bushwick open artists studios in 2007, a year after the art festival's first open artists studio event. I have led this art event several times over the years, and the number of art studios taking part in the event has grown considerably over the years. Bring water, walking shoes, AND AN EXTRA LAYER OF CLOTHING. This walk is about 3 miles. If you are registered for this walk and can't attend, please change your RSVP online from "YES" to "NO". (PLEASE READ THE "ABOUT US SECTION" FOR THE GUIDELINES REGARDING THE NO SHOW POLICY.) THERE IS NO NEED TO POST WHY YOU CAN'T MAKE THE EVENT. No young children or pets allowed on this walk w/o prior approval of the organizer. No smoking, please. If you have a personal matter or questions, please contact John, the Event Host, through his private Meetup account. Description: Bushwick Open Studios Walk (BOS) is New York City's largest open art studio event. Hundreds of artists are opening their doors to the public and sharing their work. Some of these artists didn't participate last year. The artists don't charge admission to their art studios. We'll stop in some of these art studios and get a rare, intimate view of the artists' working environment. We also can talk to the artists about what they do. This art walk features painting, photography, ceramics, mixed-media, sculpture, and printmaking. Artists and others have been colonizing Bushwick's industrial zone and making it the epicenter of Brooklyn Cool. Bushwick's streets are also lined with street art and graffiti. Along the way, we'll see dozens of murals, some done by well-known artists. From artsinbushwick.org, some participating art studios: https://artsinbushwick.org/events/categories/mixed-media/ More participating open art studios from artsinbushwick.org: https://artsinbushwick.org/events/categories/photography/ Meeting Time: After lunch 2:00 PM. Meeting Place: Outside the entrance to The Swallow Café & Espresso Bar at 49 Bogart Street (located near Grattan Street) in the neighborhood of East Williamsburg/Bushwick. Transportation: Take the "L" subway train to the Morgan Avenue station. Depending on the subway exit that you take to get out of the Morgan Avenue station, you will be one to three blocks away from The Swallow Café & Espresso Bar. According to the MTA, the "L" train will be running normally on Sept. 29th. Driving Directions: Free street parking is available on the side streets near the meeting place. Finishing Time/Place: This art walk will end between 6:00 PM and 6:15 PM near the "L" line Jefferson Street subway station. This is several blocks from the starting point. If I don't email cancellation, I plan to be at the meeting place.
