Let’s celebrate the opening of the special exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power with art, conversation, and performance, exploring the broad spectrum of Black artistic practice between 1963 and 1983. Enjoy the daylong symposium including a keynote address by scholar Margo N. Crawford and conversations with pioneering artists in the exhibition, including David Driskell, Sam Gilliam, Jae Jarrell, Wadsworth Jarrell, Faith Ringgold, Herb Robinson, and Ming Smith. This event will take place at the Brooklyn Musuem at 200 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, NY in the Cantor Auditorium (3rd Floor) and Morris A. and Meyer Schapiro Wing (4th and 5th Floors).
