HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF VISITING EVERY GALLERY IN OUR GREAT MUSEUM? THIS IS YOUR CHANCE! With an encyclopedic collection of two million objects from every culture and every time period, contained in over two million square feet, it seems daunting to see it all, it's true. But the number of galleries is finite and over the course of many months, we will set foot in every one! Each week (except when I'm traveling or celebrating holidays) we'll visit a different set of galleries of each of the 17 curatorial departments:

Modern and Contemporary Art (13 Sept)

The Robert Lehman Collection (20 Sept)

The Costume Institute (20 Sept)

19th & Early 20th-Century European Paintings and Sculpture (27 Sept)

The American Wing (3 parts) (4 Oct, 19 Oct, 25 Oct)

European Paintings[masked] (1 Nov)

Musical Instruments (8 Nov)

Drawings, Prints and Photographs (15 Nov)

European Sculpture & Decorative Arts (2 parts) (29 Nov, 6 Dec) Bonus: Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche

Arts of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia & Later South Asia (13 Dec)

Ancient Near Eastern Art (10 Jan 2019)

Medieval Art (17 Jan 2019)

Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas (24 Jan)

Arms & Armor (14 Feb)

Asian Art (21 Feb)

Egyptian Art (28 Feb)

Greek & Roman Art (7 Mar) Each of these could comprise its own museum! We'll learn as we go. What is repoussé? What does it mean when silver is chased? What's a bequest? What are accession numbers? We'll also learn about the physical building and the restoration department. PRICE: $100 for the full series, or $7 per event You can sign up for the whole series, or attend separately, but the best deal will be to buy the entire cycle. (Message me privately to work out payment for that.) As always, we'll have lunch together as a group. Note: If you have New York State i.d., remember to bring it so you can pay what you wish to enter the museum.
