Syncretism Study Group: Main Tenets of Syncretic Theory and Practice
dim. 19 août à 19:00
In this first study group session, we will discuss what is syncretism and how it works. Using examples from ancient syncretic ideas and practices, we will explore how this system from antiquity may be used today. No previous knowledge is required. A short, introductory reading will be provided some days before the meeting to those who had RSVPed. We will meet in a very classical spot in Central Park: the Waldo Hutchins Bench at the Inventors Gate. In case of bad weather we'll offer an alternate location. The session will be guided by Dr. Boaz Vilallonga, PhD. Scholar of Religion, Dr. Vilallonga obtained his PhD at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, France. He has held positions at Columbia University and New York University. Join us for a journey on how to combine religion and spirituality today, using the tools of ancient peoples.
