Hike & Canoe the Constitution Marsh

Wanted: 17 adventurous people, about 10 with some canoeing experience for this spectacular guided 2-3 hour excursion of the Constitution Marsh. The canoes seat 3 so the person in the middle need not have any experience so a few novices can join in. (room for about 5 novices!) After carpooling over to the Constitution Marsh Audubon Center,
we will start out with a short approx. 1 1/4 hour hike to Indian Falls and the Constitution Marsh trail with one short moderate hill which is the driveway from the Audubon center. The other woods trails have some moderate ups and downs and there are some paved and gravel areas. After our hike ending back at the Audubon center we will regroup for our guided canoe excursion! PO Box 174, Cold Spring, NY 10516 RAIN DATE SUNDAY SEPT. 30TH AT 2:30PM From the Constitution Marsh Audubon Center: All participants will be required to sign a Safety Pledge and Agreement upon arriving at the Marsh. Wear supportive walking/hiking shoes or boots. Sun protection and bug spray is also suggested.
Bug protection is usually not necessary but feel free to bring it if you want it. To protect our animal exhibits please do not apply sunscreen or bug spray while inside or near the nature center. WATER is mandatory. Bring snacks, binoculars and cameras of course!
You are strongly encouraged to dress in layers and include a windbreaker, as it can be breezy on the water even in the warmer seasons. Trash. Groups bringing snacks must carry out all their recyclables and garbage. Please bring your own sturdy trash bags to collect and carry these items away with you. Walkways. All walkways at the Marsh are natural trails, and thus can range from muddy to dusty and dry depending on recent weather conditions. Some trails are rocky with some moderate ups and downs. Cancellations: Marsh programs will be cancelled at the discretion of the Marsh staff, if thunderstorms, high winds, high heat index, OR rain more than a drizzle occur or are likely to occur, based on the weather forecast. The decision to cancel programs is usually made the morning of the program unless poor weather conditions are predicted the previous day. In the event that weather conditions warrant canceling a program a Marsh employee will attempt to contact the group’s trip coordinator by phone not less than 90 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the program.

Turn right out of the train station parking lot and go a short distance to the traffic light at RT. 9D.
Turn left at the light onto Rt. 9D
Go approx. 2 miles and turn left onto Indian Brook Rd.
and take it to the parking lot at the end where you will take Warren Landing Rd. which is the driveway to the Constitution Marsh Audubon Ctr.
and their parking lot. There will be a sign for the center at the top of the driveway. Optional dinner at Table 9 located at 92 Roa Hook Rd., Cortland Manor a short drive from the train station.
