Spring Lake, NJ Walk: Victorian Houses & B&B's, Rustic Bridges & the Oceanfront

This walk in Spring Lake, NJ is on a scenic route filled with interesting places. I will occasionally comment on some things along the way & stop at points of interest, but you will have plenty of time to socialize with others. Cost: The cost of this event is $4 per person, which is paid at start of walk. (Please read the "About Us Section" for more information regarding the $4 per person fee for each event.) The walk is 6 miles & moderate paced. Bring Lunch (or buy lunch in Joseph's Italian Deli), water, walking shoes, extra layer of clothing & SUN PROTECTION. Also bring bug spray (You might not need it but have it with you just in case.) THERE IS NO NEED TO POST WHY YOU CAN'T MAKE THE EVENT. If you are registered for this walk & can't attend, please change your RSVP online from "YES" to "NO". (PLEASE READ THE "ABOUT US SECTION" FOR THE GUIDELINES REGARDING THE NO SHOW POLICY.) No young children or pets allowed on walk w/o prior approval of organizer. No smoking, please. Description: We'll 1st walk near a lake (Spring Lake) & then have lunch adjacent to the lake, which has 2 wooden pedestrian bridges. Later, we'll pass by historic churches, Victorian private houses & romantic Bed & Breakfasts. We'll also walk for several blocks on Spring Lake's lovely boardwalk that doesn't have any concession stands. Later in year, I will schedule this walk on weekend. Public Transportation from Manhattan to Spring Lake, NJ. At NJ Transit section of NYC Penn Station, take 10:41 AM NJ Transit train (North Jersey Coast Line) from NYC to Spring Lake. This train arrives in Long Branch at 12.23 PM. You will then have to get off this train at Long Branch & switch to 2nd train (a shuttle train that is an extension of train line) across same platform at station. (YOU WILL TAKE YOUR TRAIN TICKET WITH YOU.) The 2nd train leaves south from Long Branch at 12:26 PM, arriving Spring Lake 12:49 PM. (According to NJ Transit officials, if 1st train [North Jersey Coast Line] arrives late in Long Branch, the 2nd train [the shuttle train, an extension of this main train line] will stay & wait for it at the Long Branch train station.) Before boarding train at NYC Penn Sta, buy 2 tickets (NYC to Spring Lake & Spring Lake to NYC) at NJ Transit ticket window or vending machine. Regular fare $16.75 one way; children/disabled/senior fare [62 yrs & older] $7.65 one way. Purchasing regular fare on board train has a $5 surcharge. But children/disabled/seniors citizens [62 years & old] who show proper ID may purchase ticket on board train W/O paying surcharge. Allow extra time because ticket lines are long at NYC Penn Sta. Driving Direction: Park your car on Mercer St or side street, which is west of train station. Therefore, if it is rainy or forecast is for rain, I will send email about cancellation before 8:30 AM Friday morning.
