MiniConf is hosted by Code Chrysalis. This event will be focused on a series of 15 minute seminars that explore different topics in tech. Schedule 7pm - Doors Open + Networking

7:45pm - "Thinking with RxJS Observables" by Nathan Lapinski, Software Engineer @SpotX About the talk: Nate will talk about how to model events as asynchronous streams and provide some examples of how Angular does this with the RxJS library. 8:05pm - "Intro to Smart Contracts" by Dylan Tran, Educational Software Engineer @Code Chrysalis About the talk: What are smart contracts? How do you deploy them to the Ethereum blockchain? And how do you interact with them on the web? Dylan will explain it in 15 minutes. 8:25pm - "Social Analytics with Open Source Data" by Venali Sonone, Enterprise Data Scientist @Philip Morris Japan About the talk: Social analytics is a buzz and it tracks buzz. In this talk I give you a tech stack walk through and code walk through for a mock-up system to perform social analytics of one single brand from where you can pick up to grow to novel system. It focuses on general text processing and machine learning. 8:45pm - "Decrypting Cryptocurrency" by Alex Pennington, Director of Engineering @Original Stitch About the talk: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple are all hot-topics to talk about, but what is the blockchain, how does it work, and why does it matter? 9:05pm - Mingling & networking --About the Speakers--

Nate Lapinski is a full stack engineer based in Tokyo. He has been working in ad tech for the past 3 years, and before that Nate was building web sites and applications for a number of years. When he is not working, he enjoys studying history and foreign languages, and 1980s pop culture references. Dylan Tran was born and raised on the sunny beaches of Orange County, California. He was previously a software engineer at Walmart Labs and most recently, at Coins.ph where he led front-end development on a cryptocurrency exchange. He is currently an educational software engineer at Code Chrysalis. Venali Sonone is self-motivated hacker who worked for finance, e-commerce and consumer products as an analyst, machine learning engineer, and a data scientist. Alex Pennington is the Director of Software Engineering for Original Stitch, a startup company that is changing the way apparel technology is leveraged by better empowering its customers to express their brand of originality.
