Join us as we celebrate our new partnership with one of NYC's most iconic universities, New York University (NYU), to host A DAY OF DREAMS, DEFIANCE, AND DANCE! Curated by Dr. Derrick León Washington We'll begin the day with a behind-the-scenes walking tour of the history of Salsa and visit some of the venues featured in “Our Latin Thing,” the documentary that helped make the Fania All-Stars a global phenomenon. We'll then meet with Multi-Grammy Award-nominated musician/bandleader Bobby Sanabria as he leads a master workshop on the beauty of the clave and how to understand this rhythm on a whole new level. To follow, join us for an interactive panel discussion on ways to dance salsa with sabor in relation to the music. This session will be led by Mario Gonzalez AKA “Mario B.,” Founder and Director, Salsa Fever On2 Dance Academy & Janet Acevedo, Instructor, Salsa Fever On2 Dance Academy. We'll end the day with an after-work salsa social with a mix of classic and contemporary records that highlight the unique sounds of salsa. Event is completely FREE, but space is limited.
