Pub Theology on Tap: Join us by the bar!
ven. 1 juin à 02:00
Looking for a place to grapple with the big questions? Willing to respectfully disagree and learn from others? Get impatient with shallow small talk? Think that the bar can be a perfect place for contemplation and collaboration? Us too. We want to meet you. Details
WHEN: April 31st at 8pm WHERE: The Office in Summit, 61 Union Pl. WHO: All are welcome! Pub Theology on Tap seeks to be many things. One Thursday a month, we will meet at the bar, grab a glass of our preferred beverage and some food, and talk about the important things that many are too uncomfortable to discuss. These may include important current events, controversial social issues, the complexities of faith and pluralism and coexistence, and the great questions of why we are here and what this all means. Each month will have a facilitator, who will open with a particular question or quote to start things off. But they will not drive the conversation, nor will we try to aggressively prove one another right or wrong. While trying to stay generally on topic, the conversation will go wherever the group wants it to go. We will listen and learn, doing the difficult work of actually talking and sitting with doubt and disagreement. Religiosity is not required. Nor is a lack of religiosity. Ideally, we’ll have representation across a variety of beliefs and traditions. All that’s required is an open mind and a spirit of compassion. Together, we’ll consider what’s beautiful, grapple with doubt, and revel in the great complexities of our lives. In our divided world, this is more important than ever. Come. Bring a friend. Make a new one. Have a drink, if you’d like. Consider the important stuff. Be willing to say, “I don’t know.” Listen. Learn. Will you join us?
