If you would like to better understand the challenges and opportunities in navigating the UAE English media landscape or you’re looking for ways to master techniques in pitching and press release writing to secure media coverage then this course is for you. This course will help participants think like a reporter and write with impact to capture media attention and engage audiences. The training is led by former senior news editor of The National, and now freelance journalist Jennifer Bell, together with senior communications professional Deema Kingsmill-Moore.
Led by a locally experienced senior communications professional, together with former senior news editor of The National, this half-day course will provide you with an in-depth overview of UAE English media today and what to expect in the future, plus equip you with practical skills on perfecting your pitch for the best chances of success.

Facilitators:
Jennifer Bell is a British-trained, award-winning international correspondent trained to the highest level in the UK. She has ten years industry experience and is a former senior journalist and a senior national editor for The National newspaper. Jennifer, who is now a freelance journalist, contributes to many top tier titles across the region including, Gulf News, Arab Weekly, Arabian Business, Arabian Business Qatar, The Business Voice, Life 360, Middle East Health, Business Benchmark, and commissions for UK titles such as a special reports for The Telegraph. She also compiles editorials for WorldSkills Abu Dhabi and WorldsSkills International, Dubai Cares and United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).
Deema Kingsmill-Moore is the Communications and Community Engagement Director at Marriott International for the Middle East and Africa region. Having worked for the multinational hospitality company for the last 5 years, Deema is responsible for leading the Brand Marketing and Sales internal communications, building awareness and increasing exposure for the Continent and brands within the online/social media space, as well as defining and developing regional CSR strategies that underpin Marriott’s global CSR objectives to raise Marriott’s corporate reputation among target media. Previously, Deema spent 18 years working in PR and communications in Jordan, Egypt and the UAE, where she most spent 8 years with Hill & Knowlton working on consumer, CSR and hospitality accounts, as well as running training workshops for both clients and staff. Deema is a Jordanian national, and graduated from Schiller International University in Heidelberg, Germany.
Accreditation: MEPRA has partnered with UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) to establish a continuous professional development (CPD) program. MEPRA members will receive access to CIPR’s CPD platform, which includes more than 1,200 learning resources and enables practitioners to map their training journey and earn their way to becoming MEPRA and CIPR Accredited Public Relations Practitioners.
