Raynen was only two years old when he went for major brain surgery the 1st time.
Doctors discovered a massive Arachnid Cyst on his brain that caused immense pressure, but to our amazement and by God’s Grace, had not affected him negatively. Not that we are aware of yet, anyway.
The initial plan was to try and drain it in the most natural way possible for the brain to slowly relax and grow into the, 11 x 11 x 5 odd centimeters, space this cyst has left between his brain and scull.
The first few check-ups went well and all seemed fine, but to our devastation, the last check-up revealed the cyst was blocked yet again and they would now need to put in a shunt. The longer we wait, the more pressure on the brain and the bigger the chance of changes in personality or behavior, confusion, trouble speaking, weakness or loss of feeling on one side or interference with intellect.
As life goes, and a series of events… we find ourselves unable to meet the co-payments. So here we are :(
There will be entertainment throughout the day and as many of you will know, Cafe Barcelona packs a pretty delicious menu and selection of Pretoria's best Pizzas!!
