Welcome to this evening lecture were the postdoctoral researcher Amrita Ghosh, Ph.D at Linneaus university talks about different forms of popular culture in india, from Bollywood to art house cinema and even commercials to discuss religion, patriarchy and gender and how things are shifting in South Asia. Recent controversial films like "Lipstick Under my Burkha" and films on Partition of India and Pakistan like "Silent Waters" will be discussed and some scenes would be shown to present the trajectory of gender dynamics and resistance in India. Some recent commercials will also be shown to explore the present status of gender and patriarchy
