About the workshop :
At present, 80% of the world’s energy requirement is fulfilled from fossil fuels. However, the decline of fossil fuels and the emission of green house gases while burning them necessitate alternate renewable and clean energy sources. Solar energy, which is one of the prominent and sustainable sources, serves the purpose. It can be harnessed effectively using photovoltaic cells. In the past two decades, enormous efforts have been made on the design and development of materials for Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) and other types of solar cells. The energy converted through photovoltaic cells is stored and optimal discharged with the help of energy storage devices (battery and capacitor). This workshop will address the role of materials in various types of photovoltaic cells and energy storage devices and discuss the recent developments in materials to enhance the device performance.
