Born in Italy, raised in the UK, and currently lost in a haze of psychedelic rhythms somewhere in Tokyo, Rocco Universal (real name Patrizio Cavaliere) has been crate-digging and playing records for two decades. His passion for all kinds of good music spawned an enthusiasm for analogue synthesisers and retro producton techniques which he's been diligently honing in the studio in recent years. His sound threads infuences from disco, Italo, Chicago house and Detroit techno into tracks that efortlessly layer thick baselines and rich melodies. It’s these same raw, tripped out disco, house and techno favours that characterise his dynamic DJ sets too. A regular at London's Turf series, he's performed alongside Hunee, Floating Points, Romare, Ross from Friends, Mr Saturday Night and many others. 2016 saw his debut releases under the Rocco Universal moniker on highly acclaimed labels Leng and Kolour Recordings, Detroit.
Next up is his 'Fleetng Eternity' EP, due to land in September 2017 and already atractng support and appearing on mixes from Lexx, Soul Clap, Pete Herbert, Jasper James, Felix Dickinson and Force of Nature.
Previously he's released records under his real name on German label Movida, garnering support from artsts including Osunlade, Nick Curly, Ivan Smagghe, Doc Martn, and Ashley Beedle. He’s also held down residencies and guest appearances for infuental promoters like secretsundaze and Good Times, and has rocked clubs worldwide, from Ibiza to Mexico, Germany to Taiwan. Back in 2002 he set up Also Ran Records, releasing music from artsts including Martn Dawson, OCH, Liquid People and Danism, as well as his own collaboratons with Tom Neville recorded as Francisco the Man.
