Dear members,
The first exams of the semester are already history and the new courses already started. Pareto, therefore, wants to invite you to an introduction session in LaTex, a text editor platform mainly used in academia. LaTex is used by many scientists to facilitate the writing and formatting of academic papers, reports, but also presentations and other documents. LaTex will to a large extent make your work with econometric output a lot easier, additionally the programme really pays off when writing larger documents such as your upcoming thesis. Matthias offered to hold an introduction course to give you the necessary tools to start over with setting up your own documents and templates for future usage.
The session will take place on Thursday the 16th of November 2017 at 16:30 in room F416. Because the computer room has no LaTex pre-installed, it would be necessary to bring your own laptop with an already pre-installed version of the software (find suggestions below). If you do not want to install any software for various reasons, ShareLaTex (https://www.sharelatex.com/) and Overleaf (https://www.overleaf.com/) are free in-browser LaTex editors which basically offer the same tools as the installation software. If you want to use that, be sure to create a free account before the introduction session. Mattias will use MikTex in conjunction with TexMaker which you are very welcome to choose for yourself as well.
