This Les AMIS Counterpoint Concert is a pairing of new, live classical music in a Japanese motif with a classic Japanese film, Rikyu, about the perfection 400 years ago of the Japanese tea ceremony. This intimate concert features three outstanding musicians - Vania Chan, soprano, Joyce Lai,violin and Erica Crino, piano in three exquisite performance pieces: Eight Haiku Poems for Soprano, Violin and Piano; Meditazioni for Piano, both by Michael Pepa; and Rain Tree Sketch II - in memoriam Oliver Messiaen (1992) by Toru Takemitsu.
Composer Michael Pepa, just returned from a European Tour with Ms Lai and Ms Crino will attend this performance.
An artist Q&A will follow the concert and film.
