In collaboration with the Salaspils Botanical Gardens, the Danish Cultural Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is organizing a concert at the plant market in the botanical gardens. Experience the beautiful voices of the Danish womens choir Dania at the picturesque gardens. The choir will perform a number of classical Danish folk songs and it will be a special opportunity to experience the combination of Scandinavian choir music and exotic plants. Below is a description of the choir in English.
The Dania choir consists of ca. 25 members who all share the musical background of Denmark’s radios girl choir and the musical upbringing and the great artistic ambitions that the choir’s former conductor, Tage Mortensens gave them. Tage Mortensen created the choir Denmark’s Radios girl choirs senior group for the girls who had become women.
They have participated in large tours of Denmark and toured in countries around the world, they have performed at various important royal events and as well on radio and television throughout the years. The many experiences and challenges, which are part of the common baggage for the choir are of significant importance for the work and energy that is an integral part of all musical work.
