Workshops at The Flying Fox, Whanganui River
Stone Carving or Felt Making
Using Oamaru stone, you can sculpt a piece to grace your home or garden in this workshop. Using easily available hand tools, you will only be limited by your imagination! Max 3 per class
Learn the art of wet felting using New Zealand wool. Discover how to blend fibers to create a flat piece of fabric and use a resist to create bags, slippers and many other items. Max 4 per class
Day One – depart Stratford at 10am and travel to The Flying Fox, located on the banks of the Whanganui River. Lunch stop will be at Pukeko Café, Whanganui. We will arrive at the Flying Fox approx. 2pm where you can relax and get some inspiration in this amazing, property after checking into you very unique accommodation as pictured (note 4 people share one lodge with 2 people per separate sleeping room) Dinner is included and brief about the next day.
Day Two – Workshops begin after breakfast and last all day until approx. 3:30 when we will reluctantly pack up, taking our craft items with us and travel back to Stratford. There will be morning tea and lunch stops as part of the all-inclusive package deal.
No road access means you cross over the river in this cage – slow gentle ride.
Please note if you don’t want to do a workshop visits to Jerusalem Church and Kawana Mill can be arranged during day 2 instead – Price $390.00pp

1 nights’ accommodation in twin or double share room with 4 people per cottage – full linen and towels provided
