Activate are proud to announce this fantastic local walk with some of the regions best views as we cross Holcombe Moor.
Our route will start from the Military training camp where the popular TV series from the 80's and 90's “The Krypton Factor”, brought its contestants to complete the famous Krypton Factor assault course!
We will pass the assault course made famous on Granada TV, then follow a deep valley which is now used as a rifle and shooting range for the local Army Cadet Force. Once we emerge out of the valley we will now be on upper moorlands of Holcombe Moor on the summit of Bull Hill with stunning views to include, Knowl Hill, Pendle Hill, and Darwen Tower which are all landmarks we at Activate have already lead events to.
After a short distance of open land we will come across the Pilgrims cross, which was a recorded route to Whalley Abbey where the local pilgrims walked to pray. The point of interest is Peel Tower which sits high and proud on Harcles Hill, known locally as Holcombe Hill. Unlike Darwen Tower, Peel Tower can not be entered the local authorities have locked it and made it secure. After a short break we pick up our trail through woodlands and make our way back to the point where we started.
Please note that the route is dog friendly, and does cross farm land, where we ask that your dogs are kept under control at all times.
