• What we'll do
Marine Corps veteran Donald Buzney will lead a discussion on the Navajo Code Talkers and the impact their secret communications had in helping the United States throughout World War II. Buzney will trace the origin of their language, its specific use during the war, and the way in which the coded messages were transmitted without ever being detected by enemy soldiers.Don lends significant first-hand experience to his presentation, having worked with Navajo tribes in New Mexico.

Don Buzney is a former US Marine officer and Vietnam combat veteran. Don was emcee for the Opening Ceremony for the New York City Veterans Day Parade, 2000 – 2010 and recited his composition “’9/11/2001” at the site of the World Trade Center tragedy, for the Second Ground Zero Closing Ceremony, June 2, 2002. Don hosts “The Veterans Corner”, Rutgers University Radio, WRSU-88.7 FM (, a weekly, live FM radio program, honoring America’s military and the veteran’s community.
