Mindful Dance Practice & Potluck

Join us for an opportunity to continue practicing our mindfulness through dancing with a partner. Ricky, one of our members, will be teaching us the basics of Fox-Trot, Rumba and Bachata. No dance experience or special shoes are necessary, but we ask that participants attend at least 1 of the Wednesday meditation gatherings prior to this event. During the class all participants will have the opportunity to:
Learn how to dance with a partner
Be present, engage, connect and mindful of being dancing with a partner.
Develop some social emotional skills required for partnerwork
Dance with different partners throughout the session
- Connect in a kinesthetic, musical, and interpersonal level with your meditation community. Space is limited to 24 participants. Bring your favorite dish and dessert to share with our group. La Sala Lounge requests a 1 drink minimum per person for this event. Dance Instructor: Ricardo Villa Ricardo Villa is a member of Mindful Astoria. He has been a Ballroom, and Latin Dance instructor for the last two decade, both in Mexico and the United States. In 2000, he performed and taught at The Midsummer Festival at Lincoln Center. Ricardo currently teaches dance classes in Manhattan at Paul Pellicoro's Dance Sport https://www.dancesport.com/ . Ricardo has performed at Roseland Ballroom’s 4th of July Celebration, Irving Plaza Swing Society Dance, and competed at the International Hustle and Salsa Competition in Miami, Disco America in Philadelphia, The World Hustle Dance Championships in New Jersey, and the New York Hustle Congress over the past few years, consistently winning 1st and 2nd place prizes.
